ARE YOU MY IN-HOUSE LAWYER?
Not exactly. External counsel on a predictable plan; in-house level access for those with us in thier Back Pocket. Think of me as your lawyer on call. You get the access, responsiveness, and strategic oversight of in-house counsel — without paying a six-figure salary.
For all others, we have a strictly limited-scope retainer.
SERVE OUTSIDE ONTARIO?
I’m licensed in Ontario, so that’s my primary focus. If you’re based elsewhere, I may still be able to review contracts or advise on certain matters, but we’ll confirm scope during your consult.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BACK POCKET & PROJECT-BASED WORK?
Back Pocket is like having a legal safety net — ongoing protection, predictable pricing, and continuous support. Project-based work is one-off, fixed-fee services like incorporations, shareholder agreements, or a single contract review. Many clients start with a project, then upgrade to Back Pocket once they see how much easier and more cost effective business feels with a lawyer in their corner.
IS THERE A COMMITMENT FOR BACK POCKET?
Yes — 12 months. This isn’t quick-fix lawyering. A year gives me the chance to build systems, anticipate risks, and protect your business properly.
WHAT IF I DON'T USE MY MONTHLY REVIEW OR CALL?
Unused reviews or calls in the Back Pocket Legal Subscription don’t roll over, because consistency is what keeps you protected. But you’ll always have unlimited email access (and voice-note access if you’re a VIP) — and compliance support is baked in.
*Special exceptions are made for those clients who Pay in Full for for the annual Back Pocket Subscription fee.*
WHAT KINDS OF DOCUMENTS DO YOU REVIEW?
Everything from client agreements to supplier contracts, NDAs, licensing deals, and partnership agreements (and everything in between). Back Pocket Standard covers shorter (≤5 page) documents, while Back Pocket VIP covers larger (≤15 page) agreements. Bigger projects can always be quoted at a flat fee under the Document Review & Redline service.

I don’t take on litigation, criminal law, family law, or patent/trademark prosecution. But I work with vetted specialists and, if needed, I’ll make introductions and coordinate the hand-off so you’re never left hanging.
